KURTRIDGE
Beryl Budd and Margaret Lee

HOW YOU CHOSE YOUR AFFIX NAME

Kurtridge was the Sixth name the Kennel Club accepted when we registered the Affix. Kurt was from Margaret's Affix "Kurtlee" and Ridge was from Beryl's Affix "Delridge".

FIRST INVOLVEMENT WITH GSDs

Our first involvement with GSDs was 1966 when Margaret bought a puppy from Nem Elliot called Kurt. The following year she bought another puppy from Mr John Kennett of the Stavens prefix, Stavens Dirk. Beryl (who has known Margaret since being Sunday school teachers together) went for the ride and fell in love with a bitch puppy called Delsa. 9 months later she also bought her litter-sister, Delfi. Unfortunately Delsa died at 15 months but Delfi who was a big strong bitch who won in the ring went on and was the start of the Delridge Prefix. Two of the most notable were Delridge Camilla and her son Ch Delridge Erhard, 23 CCs and 10 Res CCs. Bred by Beryl he was Margaret's much loved companion for nine and a half years.
Over the following years we have been fortunate and lucky to have owned and bred
several champions, all of which are cherished moments of time.

FIRST GSD YOU SHARED

In 1987 we purchased a quarantine born bitch puppy of 10 weeks from B & J Stanley called Greenstan Elkie. She was the beginning of the Kurtridge Affix. Elkie won well in the ring and was top winning bitch in 1989, getting her title of Champion at two years of age. We then bred from her.

FAVOURITE UK DOG AND BITCH

Well, we go back a long time. So we have a lot to choose from. Margaret's choice is Ch Gorsefield Granit. My memory of him is a big cuddly bear with lots of coat and plenty of bone. He won 2 CCs. Beryl's-I don't have any particular favourite. I liked Vikkas Scipio av Huitsand, Ch Rossfort Premonition, Ch Ariomwood High and Mighty, Ch RosehurstChris, all in their different times very good dogs.

In Bitches we both liked Ch Fairycross Made to Measure, Ch Labrasco Chica and the litter sisters Sadira Paulette and Petite Fleur.

FAVOURITE FOREIGN DOG AND BITCH

We tend on the whole to like the same dogs. Our choice of male without a doubt is Sieger 1984/5 Uran V d Wildsteigerland. He has done so much good for the breed. He was a dog you could fling your arms round and give a big hug which we did on several occasions ending up with a tear.

The choice of female goes to the 1988 Siegerin Rhonda Haus Beck. We were so pleased
when she became Siegerin as we had picked her out early on. Another one we liked was
Palme von Bad Boll. From the previous year, we thought her a tremendous bitch but Dr
Beck could only make her VA2 because of her colour. He called her a yellow bitch.
