AMULREE
Isobel Anderson
At the end of the war, 1945, my father became interested in showing cocker spaniels. He bought a black/tan bitch and kennel with his demob money. I started handling the spaniels at 12. They were rubbish.!
I was always very keen on GSDs and my first puppy was given to me on my 14th
birthday - Pick of Litter Bitch from a well-known local breeder who taught me all I know about Pedigrees, Breeding, Handling, etc., Mr john Clark, whose Kennel was based on
'Mandala' (Dr H Norris). The bitch was called Misty -'Mist of Schiehallion'. She died unfortunately of Hard-Pad at 4 months!
My first show Bitch was May of Seale (Chanson Black Abbot) son of Ch Jet of Seale I think!
My father and I showed a few GSD but they were no good!
I registered 'Amulree' on my marriage to Harry, although he knew nothing about dogs
then - he just tagged along! He was a very keen cyclist (Time Trials and used to stay in a Hostel in Amulree, a small village near Crieff.
The dog who made the most impresson on me in the UK was Ch Asoka Cherusker.
The UK Bitch I like best would be a draw between my own Tisn't who was a fantastic mover and the lovely Ch Gayvilles Canti.
The best bitch I have ever seen is without doubt Vanta v d Wienerau.
The first German dog to impress me was Eros v Hambachtal. I was rather anti-German at the time as I thought they had no shape! Eros was a lovely dog. Superb mover and his owner/handler was rather dishy too"!!! A bit like Tom Jones! But I think the best dog without a doubt in my mind was Zarito v Hirschel, a superb looking dog with outstanding movement-not like some of the so-called flyers that we see today.
